‘OEASA on the Road’

Outdoor Educators’ Association of South Australia

Professional Development Program


This workshop will be held at the Scott’s Creek Campsite Morgan

665 Murraylands Road, Morgan, SA 5320


With generous support from Prince Alfred College and the Council of Education Associations an Outdoor Education professional development program is to be held at PAC’s Scott’s Creek campsite at MORGAN, approx. 2.2 hours from the Adelaide CBD. Participants can attend a single workshop or stay for all the workshops. Accommodation and kayaking equipment all available on site. Some catering is in included but a contribution is likely.



Proposed Program:


Friday 30 August


9.30-12.30:        SACE Stage 1 and 2 HPE - Kayaking for Health and Physical Education workshop

                             This workshop will examine the new Stage 1 and 2 HPE curriculum and how aspects can be delivered and assessed using kayaking practical.


1-5:                     SACE Stage 1 and 2 Outdoor Education workshop and research focus group

This workshop will focus on final advice for stage 1 and 2 teachers for 2019, but also prepare teachers for the new 2020 curriculum. A summary of recent research into Outdoor Education in South Australia from Scott Polley’s PhD study as well as an opportunity to contribute the research.



6-9.30:                Social/network dinner and presentation (TBA)

                             BBQ and presentation – presenter to be advised.

                             If staying overnight at the Scott’s Creek campsite bring overnight bag with bedding.

Saturday 31 August – Paddle SA workshops


Presented in conjunction with Paddle SA. Main purpose of workshop is to clarify standards of practice and assessment (for trainee and current assessors) as well as an opportunity to refine skills for trainee instructors. Participants who seek Paddle SA assessment of any relevant Paddle SA award will need to participate in both days and submit their paperwork a minimum of 7 days prior to the activity. All paddling equipment supplied (boat (canoe or kayak), paddle, PFD, spraydeck if kayaking)– bring personal paddling equipment and leader kit suitable for the conditions. Candidates with financial hardship are welcome to make the case for a subsidy from OEASA and Paddle SA by emailing Scott.Polley@unisa.edu.au
