Event Description

Flatwater Foundation Coaching Course. 

1. Pre-course – Completion of FREE online courses

• Australian Sports Commission Community Coaching General Principles Course.

   – Register at https://learning.ausport.gov.au/. Complete the online course and save the certificate.

• Play by the Rules Child Protection Course.

   – Register at https://learning.ausport.gov.au/. Complete the online course and save the certificate.

• Evidence of relevant basic canoe skills. Either:

   – Documentation required:  Basic skills Award, evidence of involvement in canoeing as a competitive athlete, a current ACAS award, a current coaching certification in another canoeing discipline, or

   – Completion of a basic skills assessment during completion of the Foundation Coaching Course Practical Component.

2. Coaching Course:

• Completion of face-to-face approved Foundation Coaching Course. Letter of completion from Course Facilitator.

    – Course outline to be provided prior to course.   

3. Post course requirements:

• Current First Aid and CPR Certificates 

   – Certificates of completion including expiry date.

• Working With Children Check (for coaches 18 years of age or older)

  – Volunteers and paid employees who work with children and young people must hold a 'Blue Card'. 

4. Coaching Expereince:

• Completion of 20 hours of coaching practical coaching experience with an approved mentor or coach: Documents required:

 – Coaching Log Book outlining details of the practice sessions conducted and coaching

 – Coaching Plan for a minimum of 4 sessions

 – Practical Observation Assessment Checklist completed by assessor.   

5. Paddle Australia Documentation:

 – Signed PA code of behaviour

 – Completed Coach Accreditation Application Form

    -$44 for 4 years registration
