Event Description

2018 ACAS FLATWATER ASSESSMENT DAY

The 2018 Flatwater Assessment Day will be an ideal chance for those who have previously undertaken their skills and theory training, but for a variety of reasons have not had the chance to complete their final paddling assessment.

It is anticipated that candidates attending will be assessed at one of the following levels:

ACAS Flatwater Lifeguard Award

This is the introductory level to gain employment in the industry. Holders of this award are qualified to manage and supervise a paddling activity in enclosed situations, where the group does not leave the immediate launch area.

ACAS Flatwater Guide Award (FWG)

This award qualifies you as a FWG to lead group trips in canoes / kayaks on lakes and rivers in controlled conditions. A FWG enables safe participation in the activity without the intention of teaching all paddling skills.  Multi-day and overnight activities require the Overnight Camping Endorsement.

ACAS Flatwater Instructor Award (FWI)

An accredited FWI is qualified to instruct and lead groups on overnight or full-day excursions on inland waterways in moderate conditions. An instructor is able to critique technique and apply a variety of instructional strategies.
